ECH School

The ECH School is licensed for children grades K through 12 with children placed in classrooms of no more than 10 students led by a teacher and teacher assistant. Our elementary, middle school, and high school curriculum is based on Normandy School District’s requirements with students receiving individualized instruction developed to suit their IEP and other educational needs.

Core curriculum classes and credit recovery programs are offered as well as Read 180, a highly-effective computer-based reading program that has increased students reading Lexile an average of two grades per school year. Students also have the opportunity to take several electives such as personal finance, health, sociology and job skills. The ECH School enrolls students from our residential treatment program as well as qualifying day students from the surrounding community.

An alternative to traditional public school, ECH School has licensed clinical social workers on staff who provide daily therapy to help students with their behavioral and emotional challenges. We offer children the opportunity to participate in programs including student council, Soar Awards, assemblies, Girls’ Circle, Boys Mentoring, and Junior Achievement as well as other programs designed to boost student self-esteem, morale, and participation.

Teachers and therapists work with students and parents to help them succeed and return to their community schools. Graduation and GED assistance is provided on a case-by-case basis.
