K-12 Alternative School

The Carrie Elligson Gietner School (ECH School) is an alternative school option for students in grades K-12 who struggle in a traditional learning environment. The school enrolls youth from our residential treatment program as well as qualifying day students from the surrounding community.

Located on our St. Louis campus, the ECH School offers an intimate setting with a maximum of 10 students per class, led by a certified teacher and assistant. The elementary, middle, and high school curriculum follows Normandy School District requirements, with individualized instruction tailored to each student’s IEP and educational needs.

Beyond academics, ECH School’s small class sizes and integrated therapy programs provide essential support for students with behavioral needs. Our licensed clinical social workers provide daily therapy to help students with their social and emotional challenges. We strive to provide day students with the tools and life skills they need to one day return to their home district.

Electives and extracurriculars are also available to help students discover their unique strengths and boost their self-esteem. Opportunities include personal finance, health, sociology, job skills exploration, student council, Soar Awards, assemblies, Junior Achievement, and Young Entrepreneurs.
