Carrie Grows Confidence

When Carrie* arrived at the Every Child’s Hope Steppingstone office, she was beginning her junior year of high school and facing significant challenges. A failed adoption had left her without the support she needed to manage her mental health, and she struggled to keep up with school and daily life.

With patience and encouragement from ECH staff, Carrie eventually shared that she might be interested in landscaping. That small step opened the door to a new path. Staff helped her map out a garden project, supported her academics, and guided her in applying to a technical school for landscape design.

Over the summer, Carrie led a group of young women in planting herbs, vegetables, and flowers, which they harvested and sold to staff. Together they raised more than $400, which they chose to donate to a local food pantry.

Today, Carrie is thriving in technical school, rebuilding her relationship with her adoptive parents, and flourishing in ECH’s independent living program. Her story shows how ECH Steppingstone not only addresses immediate needs but also helps youth build confidence and prepare for a meaningful future.
