An ECH Client Story
March Edition
The following reflection was written by a blossoming participant in our Steppingstone Transitional Living program:
I have been in the Steppingstone program for 2 years. In the beginning, I was all over the place. I had goals, but I wasn’t really motivated. Due to the support from the Steppingstone staff and realizing that I didn’t have long before I would have to leave the program, I decided I needed to change. I enrolled at St Louis Community College and got a part-time job at Walgreens.
I learned a lot of everyday life skills including paying bills and how to save money. I was eventually able to buy a car and have been able to keep up with the maintenance and repairs. I have also learned to balance my work and school responsibilities with my social life and have been able to spend time with friends and family.
With ECH’s help, I was linked with a mentor who offered additional support and ultimately led to me transferring to Southeast Missouri State University where I plan to study elementary education beginning this month.
I encourage current Steppingstone clients to get a job and SAVE more than you think you can. Be true to yourself and don’t be afraid to Dream!
Steppingstone staff congratulates *Lindsey on her hard work and wish her the best as she continues her education. We believe that Lindsey will succeed in reaching all of her dreams.
